World Servers and Area Servers

To have continuous worlds a World Server would have a large area 3D area. This can be from Google or the X3D-Earth Working Group for the real Earth feel. Or fractal landscape with trees, rivers, and other detail automatically generated, for a fantasy feel.

The World Server can map out areas that would be used by simulation servers for construction. Area servers, I refer to as towns, could be the same server as the World Server, or on a different host. The World Server can map out many towns across the map. If the World Server is mapping California then VR representation of San Diego can be in a town.

The towns can be connected with roads, rails, rivers, air traffic, and more. Somebody could drive their avatar from VR San Diego to VR Sacramento. Public transporation could take avatars in groups across the world. Riding a train between the to places could be a social event to itself.

The towns that lack a fixed location would include an aircraft carrier or a flying city. In that case the towns would move where the World Server rules would allow them.
